Emma Pillsbury Style Under $100 - Target

Jess writes, "What about Emma style for us girls on a budget?"

An excellent question!

I love living the fantasy that one day, I could stroll into J.Crew or Anthropologie and pick anything off the racks I wanted and bring everything up to the register. Wait, scratch that. I'd have a personal shopper-slash-stylist do that for me while I sipped a soy latte at a sidewalk cafe with my purse-sized doggie on my lap.

In reality, I spend very little money on my clothing. First off, we own a home that was built in the last decade and consequently, is in constant need of some ridiculous TLC. Basically the roof budget trumps the shoe budget. Then there's that whole thing about being a teacher. My wardrobe takes a beating, and I never buy anything that has to be dry cleaned, because my clothes have to be laundered after each wearing, no exceptions. I also hate to iron.

I buy almost all of my clothes at Target. They carry cute, inexpensive things that can really take my kind of wear-and-tear, and they have killer sale racks. Shoes, accessories, tights - you name it, I get it at Target. And as a vegan, I'm always able to find faux leather and cotton galore. That makes me happy. By some great stroke of luck, Target also happens to carry quite a few Emma-worthy pieces. Some of my favorites:

How can you go wrong when you can put together an entire outfit, including shoes and accessories for under $100?

What are some of your favorite places to shop for Emma style on a budget?

Thanks for the question, Jess!

Ok so I have every one of those skirts as well as several of the sweaters & blouses. Sad & awesome at the same time! I find a lot of my Emma stuff on eBay & etsy too. J.crew stuff is always cheaper on eBay and they have a lot of the exact Emma pieces that are no longer available in stores. I use etsy for the jewelry & sweater clips :)

I found a five dollar sweater pin in a vintage store, but everything else is either forever 21 or h and m. Love the shoes from target though!!!

Thanks for the great question, Jess!

Emma, I love Forever 21 for jewelry and accessories, too! Can't go wrong there!

Such cute things. I picked the wrong month to start my "no new clothes" kick. Lately I've been finding that consignment stores are the way to go for cheap and fun pieces.

Thanks for another great post. BTW- what grade do you teach?

Unfortunately I don't have a Target near me, and I'm too picky about their fit to order much online. I'm all about H&M, and sometimes I find some good stuff on ModCloth.com too (though that's online as well, though fit is easier to gauge there for me). Other than that...pawing through sale racks for occasional gems!

Target looks amazing! I wish we had target in canada! I rely mostly on online shopping to find emma-like clothing, J.crew, anthro, modcloth are my favourites! Needless to say my wallet needs a break!

I get some of my stuff from Ny&Company, Ann Taylor Loft, and Target. Love that pink skirt from target. I got the yellow one and polka dot one. Have to be on the look out for that one.

I don't live near a Target; however, I do live near a J.Crew factory store!! The prices are amazing (almost my whole wardrobe is from there and I'm only a grad student) and it's fun to come home with a great cardi for a great price!! So girls, check out outlet centers near you, you won't regret it!!! (Just purchased a very Emma-esque necklace for only $17, originally $60!!)

Just a heads up that the cardigans you feature here are on sale at Target for $14.99 this week. I picked up a couple today -- they're cute! I especially like that they have 3/4 sleeves, which will help them transition into Spring.

I use Ebay (or the equivalent of in my country) to find great deals. I really love ModCloth and they always have the cutest cardy's but sadly they don't ship to New Zealand :(
