Most of the time, when Emma is straightening pencils at a desk or nomming celery at a table, we're left to imagine what skirt she might be wearing.

But sometimes, little WWEPW angels smile down on us and throw us a bone.

I love mixing blues. Here's an Under $100 outfit, inspired by Emma's outfit from Mattress.

Halogen Poplin Blouse - $13
Apt. 9 Ruffle Cardigan - $35
LOFT Polished Denim Pencil Skirt - $50

Total Cost - $98

Emma Pillsbury Style Under $100 - Purple Monochromatic Outfit

Hey, you. The one who googled "emma pillsbury green pea coat." Or "emma pillsbury bee sweater." Or "emma pillsbury plaid dress." I'm glad you found WWEPW. Most of Emma's clothes from Glee are here. Pull up a chair. Get comfy. Stay a while.

But what about you? The one who googled, and found the item you were searching for, and fell in love. But then you saw the price tag. And your heart sank. Don't worry. There's hope.

The most common email I get from readers - probably twenty times a day - is this: "I love Emma's style, but her clothes are just too expensive for me. Can you help me get Emma's look on a budget?"

I can! I can help! Here's the deal: I'll help you put together Emma-worthy outfits for under $100, but you have to invest in a great pair of shoes, first. Emma's no Imelda Marcos - she has a few choice pairs that she rotates with her outfits. You don't have to spend a fortune on shoes to get a great look. Just buy one or two pairs that will go with everything, and I'll do the rest.

First up: a budget friendly monochromatic look.

Old Navy Women's Facet Button Cardigan - $20
Coldwater Creek Tweed Pencil Skirt - $29
Selected Femme Dobby Cotton Frill Front Blouse - $30
Talbots Skinny Belt - $16

Total Cost - $95

Which of Emma's looks would you like to duplicate on a budget? Leave your request in the comments!

Emma Pillsbury Style Under $100 - Target

Jess writes, "What about Emma style for us girls on a budget?"

An excellent question!

I love living the fantasy that one day, I could stroll into J.Crew or Anthropologie and pick anything off the racks I wanted and bring everything up to the register. Wait, scratch that. I'd have a personal shopper-slash-stylist do that for me while I sipped a soy latte at a sidewalk cafe with my purse-sized doggie on my lap.

In reality, I spend very little money on my clothing. First off, we own a home that was built in the last decade and consequently, is in constant need of some ridiculous TLC. Basically the roof budget trumps the shoe budget. Then there's that whole thing about being a teacher. My wardrobe takes a beating, and I never buy anything that has to be dry cleaned, because my clothes have to be laundered after each wearing, no exceptions. I also hate to iron.

I buy almost all of my clothes at Target. They carry cute, inexpensive things that can really take my kind of wear-and-tear, and they have killer sale racks. Shoes, accessories, tights - you name it, I get it at Target. And as a vegan, I'm always able to find faux leather and cotton galore. That makes me happy. By some great stroke of luck, Target also happens to carry quite a few Emma-worthy pieces. Some of my favorites:

How can you go wrong when you can put together an entire outfit, including shoes and accessories for under $100?

What are some of your favorite places to shop for Emma style on a budget?

Thanks for the question, Jess!
