My style icons have always been television characters. Before Joan and Betty, there were two very important characters whose retro style I couldn't resist.Laverne and Shirley.
They looked like they walked right off the pages of my mom's high school yearbook. Sandwiched between Happy Days and Three's Company in the Tuesday night lineup, Laverne & Shirley introduced me to the wonder of a great pencil skirt. And Michael McKean.
Every great style icon has a signature. Who doesn't remember Laverne's monogram, affixed to every sweater she owned? There's an Etsy shop that's filled with fabulous pieces that are sure to become your newest style signature.
Meet Taryn, the creative mind behind Poppy Chic Designs. As soon as I saw her retro-inspired work, I wanted to throw on my favorite sweater, adorn it with a pair of her clips, and head on down to the Pizza Bowl.

While working as a showgirl for Carnival Cruise Lines in the 1990s, Poppy Chic creator Taryn Sisco would also help out as a seamstress for the costumes and accessories. I love the pin up girl poppy hair pin for me but the boyfriend flask with the bowling balls would be perfect for my husband!
